THE HOLY SPIRIT DOVE

I hear the sound… of scripture being put to music. Throughout the Bible God’s people worship Him through music. In I Chronicles 15:16 when the Levites were carrying the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem “David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their fellow Levites as musicians to make a joyful sound with musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.” Then David sang and danced before the Lord with all his might and soul. Mere words were not enough to express the depth of his appreciation and love for his God.

I have MANY favorite worship songs. This one includes themes from both Matthew 25:6 “At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’” and I Thessalonians 4:16-17 “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.” In 1986 these Words of hope inspired two brothers to write one of the most recorded songs in the history of Christian Music. When I listen to the song, the lyrics transport me to a place of expectation; expecting Christ to return for God’s children. I can hear and feel the mighty rushing wind of God’s Spirit flow over my soul, I recall the Biblical prophecies that have come to pass in my lifetime, I know the time is short for us to be His hand extended to the world while it is still day. Hearing the combination of the music crescendo and the words “When Jesus steps out..” I feel compelled to step out as a light for others to find Him, accept Him and also be caught up in the air with Him at the Midnight Cry.

Lyrics to “Midnight Cry
By Greg Day, Chuck Day

I hear the sound
of a mighty rushing wind
and it’s closer now
than it’s ever been
I can almost hear the trumpet
as Gabriel sounds the chord
at the midnight cry
we’ll be going home

When Jesus steps out
on a cloud to call His children
the dead in Christ shall rise
to meet Him in the air
and then those that remain
will be quickly changed
at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry)
when Jesus comes again

I look around me
I see prophecies fulfilling
and signs of the times
they’re appearing everywhere
I can almost hear the Father
as He says
Son go get your children
at the midnight cry
the Bride of Christ will rise

When Jesus steps out
on a cloud to call His children
the dead in Christ shall rise
to meet Him in the air
and then those that remain
will be quickly changed
at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry)
when Jesus comes again

And then those that remain
will be quickly changed
at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry)
when Jesus comes again
at the midnight cry (at the midnight cry)
when Jesus comes again
when Jesus comes again
